What it is
A visual schedule helps students who need to see the day to feel ready for it. Each step has a picture and a word, and the student checks it off when it is done.
How to use it
- Go over it first thing, before the day starts.
- Point to each step as it begins.
- Check it off when it is done, so the student sees what is left.
Three quick tips
- Keep it short. A morning or an afternoon is often easier than a whole day.
- Use the same pictures every day.
- Show a change on the schedule before it happens.
Questions
- Can I use it on a tablet?
- Yes. Every SCAFLI page prints, and many also play on a screen.
- Can I change the steps?
- Yes. Type the steps you want and SCAFLI puts a picture with each one.
- Does it work for a home routine?
- Yes. Ask for a morning, after-school or bedtime routine and you get home steps.
