Make your own in seconds
Ask for other groups (food and animals, things that go, school and home), more pieces, or a version to play on a screen, and SCAFLI makes it.
Try asking for:
- “categories sort for food and animals”
- “sort by category”
SCAFLI is in early access. The free PDF above needs no sign-up.
What it is
A category activity in two parts: a sorting mat with twelve picture pieces, and six rows of Which One Doesn't Belong with an answer page for the adult.
How to use it
- Name the three groups together before cutting.
- Have the student say the group out loud as each piece is placed.
- On Which One Doesn't Belong, ask why, not just which.
Three quick tips
- Start with two groups if three is a lot.
- Use the help line at the bottom to note how much support it took.
- Mix the pieces well so sorting is a real choice.
Questions
- Can I choose the groups?
- Yes. Name the groups you want and SCAFLI picks pictures for each.
- Is there an answer page?
- Yes. Which One Doesn't Belong has an answer page with the odd one circled.
- Does it work for students who don't read?
- Yes. Every piece is a picture, and the group names can be read aloud.
A starting point for your own professional judgment. Use initials only on any page about a student.
