Free following 2-step directions worksheet, plus 3-step
The adult reads each direction out loud and the student marks the pictures: circle the cat, then put an X on the hat. Every choice is a picture with its word, so it works for students who are not reading yet. The free PDF has a 2-step page and a 3-step page.

Make your own in seconds
Ask for 1-step, 2-step or 3-step directions, or directions with basic concepts (before, after, under), and SCAFLI makes a new page with its own pictures.
Try asking for:
- “following 3-step directions”
- “following 1-step directions”
SCAFLI is in early access. The free PDF above needs no sign-up.
What it is
A listening page for following directions with two actions in a row (the 3-step page has three). Students mark pictures by circling, crossing out, boxing or underlining.
How to use it
- Read each direction once, at an even pace, and wait.
- Let the student finish both steps before you check.
- Note which part was missed, the first step or the second.
Three quick tips
- Name the marks first (circle, X, box, line under) so the words are known.
- Say it once, then repeat only if the student asks.
- Move to the 3-step page when 2 steps are easy.
Questions
- Does the student need to read?
- No. The adult reads the directions, and every choice is a picture.
- Is there a 3-step version?
- Yes. The free PDF has a 3-step page, and SCAFLI can make 1-step pages too.
- Can I use it in a group?
- Yes. Read each direction to the group and check together after each one.
