How I feel board with feeling tiles
Make your own in seconds
Ask for calm-down choices with your student's own strategies, a feelings board, or a break card, and SCAFLI makes the pictures.
Try asking for:
- “a calm down card”
- “a calm down corner visual”
SCAFLI is in early access. The free PDF above needs no sign-up.
What it is
A choice page for big feelings: five picture choices and a blank one for the student's own idea, a three-step reminder (Stop, Breathe, Choose), and small desk cards to cut out.
How to use it
- Teach and practice each choice when the student is calm.
- When feelings start to rise, point to the page instead of talking a lot.
- Afterward, notice which choice helped and praise the student for using it.
Three quick tips
- Fewer choices are often easier to use in the moment.
- Let the student pick what goes in the My own idea box.
- Keep a desk card where the student can reach it.
Questions
- Can I change the choices?
- Yes. Tell SCAFLI the strategies your student uses and it puts a picture with each one.
- What is the second page?
- A How I feel board: the student moves a feeling tile to the I feel strip, then says it or points.
- Is it for one feeling only?
- No. Ask for when I feel worried, sad or too loud and you get choices for that feeling.
A starting point for your own professional judgment. Use initials only on any page about a student.
