What it is
A guide that keeps students oriented in a hard text. It names the two families, translates the words they will keep running into, and asks one question per scene that points them back to a line.
How to use it
- Hand out the guide before reading Act 1 so students can use who’s who and the word list as they go.
- Have students reword the Prologue lines in their own words, starting from the two lines that are done for them.
- After each scene, students answer the question and point to the line they used.
Three quick tips
- Let students keep the word list next to the text.
- Have them find the line first, then explain it.
- Save Think deeper questions for a partner talk before writing.
Questions
- Does it include the text of the play?
- No. Students read your own copy. The guide has questions and supports, not the play.
- Is there an answer key?
- Yes. SCAFLI makes an educator key with the guide. This free PDF is the student guide.
- Can I make one for another act?
- Yes. Type the act and the grade, and SCAFLI builds the guide.
