Free /k/ articulation worksheet: initial sound words with pictures
Practice /k/ at the beginning of words, one picture at a time. Each word has its picture (like cat, cup, key and kite), and a second page puts the same words in short sentences with a circle to color for each try. The free PDF also has a final /k/ set.

Final /k/ words and sentences
Make your own in seconds
Ask for /k/ in the middle or end of words, all positions, a blend list, or a different sound, and SCAFLI makes the pictures and the sentence page.
Try asking for:
- “final /k/ articulation words”
- “s blends articulation words”
SCAFLI is in early access. The free PDF above needs no sign-up.
What it is
A word list for one speech sound in one position, with a picture for every word so a student who is not reading yet can still practice. Every word on the initial list starts with /k/ followed by a vowel, so blends stay on their own list.
How to use it
- Say each word first, then let the student say it after you.
- Move to the sentence page when single words are going well.
- Color a circle for each try, so you both can see how many were practiced.
Three quick tips
- A good try counts. Praise the effort, not only the clear ones.
- Practice a few minutes most days rather than a long session once a week.
- Pair it with the picture book Cat and the Kite in the SCAFLI book library for carryover at home.
Questions
- Does it include blends?
- No. The initial list is /k/ on its own before a vowel. Ask SCAFLI for a blends list to practice those.
- Can families use it at home?
- Yes. Every word has a picture, and the sentence page has circles to color, so practice at home is easy to follow.
- Can I get other positions?
- Yes. The free PDF has final /k/ too, and SCAFLI can make the middle of words or all positions.
A starting point for your own professional judgment. Use initials only on any page about a student.
