Free self-advocacy cards
Four cards that give a student words for the moments they most need to speak up: asking for help, a break, an explanation or more time. Each card has a short script to say, or the student can simply hand it over or point to it.

What it is
Self-advocacy cards for students with IEPs or 504 plans, and anyone who finds it hard to ask in the moment.
How to use it
- Agree with the student on how they'll use a card (say it, show it, or leave it on the desk).
- Practice each script once when things are calm.
- Honor the card every time at first, so the student learns it works.
Three quick tips
- Keep a set in a pencil pouch or phone case.
- Thank the student for asking, every time.
- Add their own wording to the scripts if they want.
