Free feelings chart and check-in

A feelings chart helps a child name how they feel and what they need. This one has six feeling faces, an I feel ___ and I need ___ sentence, choices for what they need (a break, help, quiet, water), and a few things they can do.

How am I feeling? Six feeling faces (happy, sad, angry, worried, tired, calm), I feel and I need sentence lines, need choices and four calm-down ideas.

What it is

A one-page emotional check-in for home or school, with pictures for every feeling.

How to use it

  1. Check in at the same times each day, like arrival and after lunch.
  2. Let the child point, then say the sentence together.
  3. Follow through on what they need when you can.

Three quick tips

  • Name your own feelings too, so it feels normal.
  • All feelings are okay; it's what we do next that matters.
  • Keep it where the child can reach it.
