Ten Thanksgiving words to find (corn, fall, family, feast, gather, harvest, pie, share, thankful, turkey), hidden across, down and on a slant in a big-letter grid, with a check box beside each word on the list. The answer key shows every word.

What it is

A word search for the week of Thanksgiving: early finishers, a calm table activity at a family gathering, or practice reading and spelling holiday words.

How to use it

  1. Read the word list together first.
  2. Look for the first letter of a word, then check the letters around it.
  3. Check each word off the list once it is circled.

Three quick tips

  • Use a highlighter so found words stand out.
  • Find one word together before working alone.
  • Ask for an easier version with fewer words for younger children.

Questions

Is there an answer key?
Yes. The second page is the key, with every word shaded in the grid.
Which ways do the words go?
Across, down and on a slant. None are backwards.
Can I make an easier one?
Yes. Ask for a Thanksgiving word search for 2nd grade and SCAFLI makes a smaller grid with fewer words.

A starting point for your own professional judgment. Use initials only on any page about a student.
